Penybont's summer transfer activity and early-season form are the main talking points for the Bridgend-based club. The Cymru Premier side, which finished third last season, has seen squad changes and maintained an unbeaten start to the new campaign.

The FAW Cymru Leagues transfer tracker confirmed two moves directly involving Penybont this summer. Defender Jacob Jones completed a transfer to fellow Cymru Premier side Briton Ferry Llansawel. In the opposite direction, Dan Jefferies moved from Briton Ferry to join Rhys Griffiths' squad.

These moves represent a direct swap of personnel between two top-flight clubs. The tracker, which closed on September 1, listed all ins and outs for every club in the league.

According to a BBC Sport match report, Penybont secured a narrow 1-0 home victory over Colwyn Bay. The win moved the team up to sixth place in the early league table and preserved their unbeaten start to the season.

The home side faced early adversity with injuries to summer signings Jonathan Leko and Ryan Hill within the opening 20 minutes. Substitute Owain Pritchard scored the decisive goal, capitalizing on a mistake by Bay goalkeeper Mark Halstead to slot home from close range. Young keeper Daniel Higgs made key saves later to secure the three points.

A Sports Yahoo roundup detailed Penybont's 2-2 draw with Cambrian United. The result meant Rhys Griffiths' side slipped to seventh in the table, though they have still not lost a match this season.

Cambrian's top scorer Liam Eason opened the scoring but was later sent off in the second half. Penybont fought back to level through Ioan Phillips, but Ryan Hill had a late penalty saved. The missed opportunity meant the big-spending side had to settle for a point against ten men.

Penybont finished the 2025 Cymru Premier season in third place with 38 points from 22 games. Their record was 11 wins, five draws, and six losses, with a recent form of two wins, two losses, and a draw heading into the summer. They ended the campaign 15 points behind champions The New Saints.

So far this season, the team has scored 36 goals and conceded 31, giving them a positive goal difference of five. Their next fixture is an away match against Cardiff Met on October 30. Cardiff Met currently sit seventh in the table.

The squad's depth will be tested in the coming weeks, and fans can view the full roster on the club's squad page.
