Penybont FC's new stand plans have been approved, doubling the stadium's seat capacity to 509. The club, based in Bridgend, will see the number of seats in its stands increase significantly, meeting the Welsh Premier League's requirements. The Football Association of Wales requires all clubs in the league to have a minimum stand capacity of 500 seats and a TV gantry. The new stand will be blue, matching the club's main kit, and will be around 33 metres in length, four metres deep, and four metres high. As part of the conditions, the club must contribute £8,000 towards painting double yellow lines around the site access. A further condition states that no development should start until a scheme of 150 off-street parking spaces, 10 staff parking spaces, and a coach parking space has been approved by the council. The plans were approved at Bridgend County Borough Council's development control committee on Thursday, July 19. Some residents had raised concerns over the expansion, fearing that existing problems would be made worse. However, officers said the stand will be substantially screened by the existing treeline and hedgerow along the boundaries of the site. The club had previously applied for permission to build a 500-seater stadium in 2016 but reduced the number to half the size due to highway safety-related planning conditions. Planning officers recommended that the original conditions be applied to ensure the increase in users can access the stadium safely. Councillors voted unanimously in favour of the plans, paving the way for Penybont's stadium expansion. The club's fans will be eager to see the new stand take shape, and the increased capacity will undoubtedly enhance the matchday experience. With the approval of the new stand, Penybont is one step closer to meeting the requirements for promotion to the Welsh Premier League. The new stand will bring a significant boost to the club, and fans will be looking forward to the upcoming season. Penybont's stadium expansion is a major development for the club, and it will be interesting to see how the new stand affects the team's performance.
